Arsenal VAR | Anthony Gordon Goal Given

Newcastle was awarded a goal in the 65th minute after a lengthy VAR check that had multiple checks for the ball being potentially out of play, Anthony Gordon foul on Gabriel & checking for an offside.

The offside shout was dismissed early on but, majority of the time was focused on the ball potentially being out of play and the potential foul on Gabriel. The still images of the ball being out of play were difficult to call due to the angle of the image, the VAR audio claimed they couldn’t make a definitive decision on it due to the evidence at their disposal so, it was cleared from the checks.

A similar event occurred earlier in the season for Man United & the goal was ruled out.

The second decision regarding the foul on Gabriel was cleared as VAR claimed Gabriel was already falling before contact was made with Joelinton.
